Bashema
About

Niece of Jamaican Reggae legend Keith Hudson and cousin of Tryfle, Bashema was just 3 years old when she would get her mum's pots and pans out of the kitchen and arrange them in the front room like a drum kit. Along with her toy piano, this was her musical debut. For Bashema's 4th birthday, her mum bought her a 61 keys Yamaha keyboard; she used this keyboard until the age of 15. Bashema has kept her passion for music throughout her life, teaching herself to sing & play the keyboard by copying songs heard around her.
After leaving school, Bashema studied performing arts at Filton College. There she met like-minded musicians & began performing live at Open-Mic Nights in Bristol. At 19 she secured a place & attended the prestigious Access to Music College. After finishing college, she worked at Oppo Music bar where she ran her own Open Mic nights & promoted music events there.
In 2008 she started working at BCFM radio co-presenting The Bristol (UK) Music show. Shortly after, she was invited to be a guest on local Bristol record label, Jelli Records. In 2009 she made her Glastonbury Festival debut playing on the Bandstand Stage & on Worthy FM Radio. In 2010 she supported Toploader at Gloucester Guildhall.
Jelli Records has produced Bashema's E.P 'Writer's Block!' (2009) & Double Single titled 'Liberty' (2010) Bashema has co-written (along with local musician Trish Brown) a charity single called 'Lullaby' to help raise money for the Wallace & Gromit Cots for Tots Appeal, supporting special care babies. The single was recorded at St George's Hall with backing from the Bristol Ensemble String Quartet. All of Bashema's music is available on iTunes and all major download sites.
Bashema's EP and Video 'Go with the Flow' was released on September 14 2012.
