Maaike Siegerist
With a love of jazz chords and melodies, and a voice
reminiscent of Joan Baez, Maaike writes story-telling songs
about her travels and remarkable people. Her music has
been played on national and local BBC Radio, and she won
the Glastonbury FM Songwriting Competition in 2018.
With her band, she has performed to enthusiastic crowds
at the Bristol Harbour Festival, Keynsham Music Festival
and Bradford Roots Music Festival. She also performs in a
duo with Bristolian artist/producer Jonni Slater on keys.
Originally from Schiedam, a Dutch city in the shadow of
oil refineries and famous for its windmills, Maaike moved to the UK in 2014, to study songwriting in Bath.
Whilst there, she recorded and self-produced her debut album Born Before the Wind. Tom Robinson handpicked several tracks for airplay on BBC Radio 6, praising the closing track 'Keep It in the Dark' for its “delicate vocal, poised production, gorgeous chord changes.”
Maaike released an album 'Little Dutch Songbook' in 2022 and re-located to Glasgow.
